Schoolies Week is coming up (22–29 November), with thousands of school leavers expected to celebrate across Queensland.
At last years Schoolies, pill-testing was trialled to great success.
Over 1000 schoolies tested their drugs and received advice on 24 different substances.
50% of the schoolies who attended a testing site and received results advised they would reduce their doses and 10% of them threw their drugs out.
Despite this just recently the Crisafulli LNP Government went out of their way to outlaw pill-testing, by slipping in amendments to make the harm-minimisation effort illegal.
They did this without consulting anyone and against expert advice. Doctors, the Police and drug and alcohol experts and groups want pill-testing to stay.
We think this decision needs to be reversed in time for schoolies.
We would like to hear your thoughts about whether you think pill-testing should be at Schoolies 2025.
