Scrapping the previous Labor Government's renewable energy targets of 70% by 2032 and 80% by 2035 is a massive step backwards for Queensland.

Scrapping these targets will:

  • Stall action on climate change
  • Limit households and businesses access to reliable and cheap energy
  • Prevent jobs in new and emerging industries being created
  • Warn renewables companies against investing in Queensland

This a massive backwards step.

That's why the Opposition Labor team and I will fight against this regressive step.

There will likely be in inquiry into the bill the Crisafulli LNP Government has introduced to Parliament.

I will be taking part in this inquiry where I can to make sure the Government knows the damages that scrapping renewable energy targets will do to our state and that it is not supported by our community.
