The Queensland Government is committed to net-zero emissions by 2050.
That's because Queensland's economy depends on lowering emissions to maintain our competitiveness, access international markets, manage trade risks and unlock private investment.
Lower emissions brings all of this into Queensland's future.
Queensland was doing so well lowering emissions that we exceeded our first interim reduction target of 30% by 2030. We've already lowered them by 35%.
We were on our way to meeting our second interim target of 75% reductions by 2035, however, were now facing headwinds we haven't seen since the early days of the climate wars.
In Federal Parliament, Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce introduce a motion to scrap the Federal Governments net-zero emissions targets.
Similarly at the State Conference of the governing party of Queensland, the LNP, motions were accepted to reject net-zero emissions targets and lift the prohibition on nuclear energy.
At that very conference the Premier told his party Members that Queenslanders expected them to no be distracted by ideological issues.
Unfortunately his party are not listening to him and neither are members of his Government who have been scrapping renewable energy projects at an alarming rate.
Tell the Premier he needs to send a strong message to his party, MP's and Queenslanders by backing in net-zero emissions, re-committing to our emission reduction targets and supporting renewable projects come online by signing below.
