MR J KELLY ASKED MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND MINISTER FOR INDUSTRIAL

RELATIONS (HON G GRACE)

QUESTION:

Will the Minister advise how many jobs will be created during the infrastructure projects

announced in state schools in the Greenslopes Electorate in yesterday’s budget?

ANSWER:

In 2019–20, the Palaszczuk Government will invest a record $1.46 billion into building new

state schools, and refurbishing, maintaining and expanding existing state schools across

Queensland.

The Greenslopes electorate has been allocated a total of $23.8 million to fund projects across

five schools, with $7.8 million in capital and operating funds committed in 2019–20, for the

following infrastructure projects:

 Cavendish Road State High School – new building: performing arts centre with seven

general learning spaces;

 Holland Park State School: refurbishment of the dental clinic to a multi-purpose Science,

Technology, Engineering and Mathematics lab;

 Mount Gravatt State High School – new building: two general learning spaces and one

specialist learning space;

 Mount Gravatt State School: Persons With Disability access toilet; and

 Nursery Road State Special School: commence delivery of additional classrooms.

The investment in the Greenslopes electorate is estimated to support up to 23 jobs in

2019–20 and 69 jobs overall through the life of the projects.
