Police equipped with new tasers in Greenslopes
Member for Greenslopes, Joe Kelly, visited the Holland Park Police Station for the delivery of new tasers as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to boost police resources and keep communities safe.
Mr Kelly said tasers would continue to be rolled out to more than 40 locations across the South Brisbane Police District as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $30 million equipment upgrade.
“Up to 160 new tasers will be delivered to the South Brisbane Police District, bringing the total number of tasers to 588,” Mr Kelly said.
“It’s about equipping our police with the latest technology and resources to keep communities safe and it’s about ensuring our police can safely do their job.”
The newly selected models are also digitally compatible with the evidence.com system.
The program will make taser downloads and firmware updates much easier to install, allowing police to spend more time on our roads rather than behind a desk.
Joe Kelly said police work was challenging and often dangerous and that new tasers provide police with another tool to deal with combative and physically aggressive people.
“I commend our police for their important role in enforcing the law and maintaining safety in our community and I’m proud to be part of a government that supports our police by providing them with the resource they need to keep communities safe.”
