Media Release: Two Greenslopes community groups to share in $37, 582 of funding
Two community groups in Greenslopes will benefit from the Round 96 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Member for Greenslopes, Joe Kelly said community groups in Greenslopes would share $37, 582 worth of funding.
“In this latest round of funding announced today, community groups Holland Park Junior Cricket Club and Seville Road State School P & C will benefit from grants that will help them purchase equipment and improve their facilities and services,” Mr Kelly said.
“The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is the state’s largest one-off grants program and provides about $53 million a year to our vital community groups.
“In the Greenslopes electorate, Holland Park Junior Cricket Club will receive $33,631 to upgrade their training facility and Seville Road State School P&C will receive $3951 to install a shade sail.
“These are vital injections of funding for groups which are often the soul of our community,” Mr Kelly said.
“The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is helping keep our sporting clubs and community groups alive – providing those items that aren’t necessarily easy to raise funds for but which are vital to their function.”
Joe Kelly said community groups were vital to the region.
The GCBF grants are worth between $500 and $35,000 and applications are open to not-for-profit, community-based organisations. There are four rounds a year.
Applications are now open for Round 98, closing on August 31.
“August 31 is also the closing date for Expressions of Interest for our special Commemorative grants to mark the 25th year of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund in 2019,” Mr Kelly said.
“For that special, extra round in 2019, we will offer much larger grants - 10 x $100,000 grants, and one grant of $250,000.
“That amount of funding would be a game changer for most community groups and I’d encourage organisations to get their Expressions of Interest in by the looming deadline of August 31,” Mr Kelly said.
