Media Release: Greenslopes early years service receives grant funding
Member for Greenslopes Joe Kelly has announced Harty St Community Kindergarten Preschool has received $9,530 in Small Assistance Grant funding this year.
Mr Kelly said the grants of up to $25,000 each will help early years services enhance the learning, development and wellbeing of children and families in their communities.
“These grants support a range of activities and are available to Government-funded not-for-profit early years services and kindergartens run by a voluntary management committee,” he said.
“Eligible activities include professional development for staff and development of education programs and practice,” he said.
“Community, parental and family engagement activities are also eligible, as are measures to enhance service management, governance and sustainability
“This grant funding was awarded to assist with service management, governance and sustainability.”
Mr Kelly said the 2018 Small Assistance Grants, worth a total of $1.9 million, would be shared among 140 services statewide.
The grants supported the Queensland Government’s work to provide every child a great start in life.
“Early years services and kindergartens from Coolangatta to Cooktown will benefit from this funding,” he said.
“The Small Assistance Grants support recipients’ important work with young children and their families across Queensland.
“They help provide better places for young children to learn through play and connect with parents and educators.”
