Greenslopes Domestic Violence Prevention Group

The Greenslopes Domestic Violence Prevention Group was established after a series of round tables to discuss domestic violence prevention.

These round tables identified three key responses to domestic violence

  • Criminal justice response

  • Crisis and ongoing support response

  • Changing community attitudes and behaviours

The focus of our local group is on changing community attitudes and behaviours. The group is made of up community members from local community groups, small businesses, P&C/P&F's and public servants.

Meeting once a quarter the group aims to engage with the community to raise awareness about domestic violence. At the recent Holland Park State School Fete volunteers handed out information to people about preventing family and domestic violence.

With Christine Dick, member of the Prevention Group, at Holland Park Fete.

In July the group will be working with Brisbane Youth Service, Young Women’s Support Service in Stones Corner to offer training. The training will focus on recognising signs of domestic violence and ways to offer assistance. This training is open to any interested community member.

Training will be held on Wednesday, 27th July from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Please contact my office for further details.
